New Scan Analysis Report Provides Stats on Scan Checking
The new Scan Analysis report provides statistics on the rate and accuracy of scan checking. The report displays a breakdown per pharmacist of the number of scripts scanned as a percentage of the number of scripts dispensed.
You can filter the report to display:
- A single pharmacist or all pharmacists
- Details of scripts or an overall summary
- Details of all scripts, only successfully scanned scripts or only unsuccessfully scanned scripts
- An audit trail of a single script's scan history (Detailed Scan Analysis Report)
Click the thumbnail below to see a larger image.
The Scan Analysis Report only includes results from Scan Checking completed in the Enhanced Scan Check Screen. Enhanced Scan Check verifies that the dispensed drug details on the prescription label correspond with the item package selected. For more details, refer to the following:
Search for a Drug by Streamlined Code
You can now search for a drug using the Streamlined Code on the prescription.
When dispensing, in the Drug or Repeat No field, enter * followed by the Streamlined Code.
Once you select the drug, the Streamlined Authority Script Item popup will display with the Streamlined Code already added.
Currently the * is used in the drug search field for generic name search – ie search *AMOX will result in a drug selection screen with all generics that start with AMOX. The generic name search has not been impacted by the introduction of the streamlined code search and will continue to be available.
For more details, see Search by Streamlined Code.
Enter Multiple Private Prices for Different Drug Quantities
Pharmacies can now set different private prices depending on the quantity of a drug that is dispensed.
You can set the Private Price for other quantities in one of two places:
-
From the drug card. After entering an amount for Private Price, click the ellipses (…).
-
During dispensing of a private script. If you enter a quantity that doesn't have pricing set up, you will see the following prompt. Click Yes to be able to set prices for other quantities.
For more information, see Set Private Prices for Different Quantities of a Drug.
SafeScript and Fred Dispense for Victorian Pharmacies
SafeScript real-time prescription monitoring system is already saving lives and keeping patients with prescription medication addictions safe from harm.
SafeScript came online in Western Victoria at the start of October 2018 and is now being rolled out across the state.
Get Started with SafeScript
Victorian pharmacies wishing to use SafeScript must first register with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services
Once the registration process is complete, activate SafeScript in Fred Dispense.
- Go to Setup > eHealth Configuration > SafeScript Configuration.
- Select Activate SafeScript.
- Click Save.
- When you dispense S8 or Victorian monitored drugs, you must enter the patient's Date of Birth.
- SafeScript returns a notification when you navigate to the Pharmacist initials field.
For more information, refer to SafeScript in Fred Dispense.
SafeScript and Fred Dispense in Victorian Hospitals
In preparation for state wide rollout, Victorian pharmacies providing services to hospitals (specifically inpatient) will be able to flag a script as being dispensed as an inpatient script with the keyboard shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+I. See Dispense a script for an inpatient for more details.
This information is important for future rules to be implemented in SafeScript. All monitored drug dispensing history is forwarded to SafeScript with this inpatient information included.
Font Size Automatically Adjusts on the Drug Selection Window
In order to more easily view drugs with long names, the font size automatically adjusts to display the longest drug name in a list.
You can still press:
- The plus key [+] to enlarge an automatically reduced font size.
- The minus [-] key to reduce a font that was not automatically reduced.
This Month's PBS Changes
For the full Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits, go to the PBS website at http://www.pbs.gov.au/ where you can search the schedule by drug name.
For your convenience, we've also uploaded a printable summary of this month's important PBS changes to this site:
Please note that the Government provides this information under embargo to Fred IT Group to enable next month’s PBS changes to be incorporated into your drug file. We have provided this information in this newsletter to prepare you for the changes, maximising patient availability/access and enabling you to adjust your stock accordingly. A condition of the embargo and in the interests of the quality use of medicines is that the information must not be released to the public or otherwise distributed prior to 1 April 2019.
