Manual Dispense

An extemporaneously prepared medicine (Extemp) is prepared by the pharmacist for immediate use. The patient may receive this preparation at a reduced PBS price only if each ingredient is listed on the PBS Schedule. To assist with your selection of ingredients, you can search for products marked as EXTEMP to ensure they are included in the PBS.

Dispense extemporaneously-prepared products

  1. From the Main screen, scan the eRx barcode or select the patient you want to dispense for.
  2. Enter the script details.
  3. In the Drug selection box, search for EXTEMP to view the list of PBS-listed extemporaneous products.

    Use Blank Misc to dispense any Extemp as Private.

    Extemporaneous items prescribed by non-PBS prescriber types (Dentists, Veterinarians) can be dispensed as Private.

  4. Select the appropriate product.
  5. Confirm and validate all other details of the script.
  6. Complete the dispensing as per normal.
