Main retail hierarchy and product categories

Products

The Retail Hierarchy is the primary hierarchy used to organise ALL products (both retail and drugs) into their main category (also referred as the Product Department), then into a subcategory (also referred to as the Product Category).

View a products category and subcategory in the main Retail Hierarchy

  1. From the AX Dashboard, navigate to Merchandising > Category hierarchies.
  2. Click Retail Product Hierarchy.

The main Retail Hierarchy details page displays. All Retail Hierarchy categories (departments) can be seen on the top left hand pane.

  3. Click Expand to expand any Category.

If you click Expand besides the Baby category (department), all sub-categories that are available under the Baby category are displayed: Baby Nappies, Baby Nappy Rash, etc ...

  4. To view products in the selected sub- category, click Products.

A list of products will display allowing you scroll through the list.

  5. (If relevant) Use the options Add, Add Products, Remove to make changes to the list of products available in the selected sub-category.

Friendly name

A specific Retail parameter allows Head Office to use a Friendly name when adding a new node to the Retail Hierarchy.

Enabling friendly name allows you to use duplicate names in your Retail Hierarchy. For example, Miscellaneous can be added top each not without the need to create Misc. 1, Misc. 2, etc ...

When friendly name is enabled, Retail Category descriptions reference the friendly name. Otherwise, the standard Retail Category descriptions are used.

To enable Friendly Name, contact Access support via your Fred Help Portal .

This feature affects only the Retail Hierarchy. Friendly Name is not available for Supplemental Hierarchies.

As a result of this change, the DIEF template GroupsHierarchies.xlsx has been updated. This template also includes a new header to import the Commodity Code associated with the node. See DIEF Templates
