What's New in Fred Dispense?
Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) Alerts
The messages on the RTPM alerts has been improved to include clearer information. Previously, the alerts showed an abbreviated message and it was sometimes necessary to hover over the alert to read a more detailed message in a tool tip.
The alerts now also include a reference to the specific name for RTPM depending on the jurisdiction—for example, SafeScript in Victoria or ScriptCheckSA in South Australia.
Example of a red alert message for SafeScript
Example of an amber alert message for ScriptCheckSA
See Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) and Fred Dispense for more information.
ePrescription Tokens - New button helps patients order scripts remotely
ePrescription tokens now include a button to help patients order their prescriptions remotely. This option should help both you and your patient send through scripts to your pharmacy in those remote situations. When the patient taps the green button shown below, two options for getting their prescription dispensed are displayed:
-
Present your electronic prescription in person.
-
Manage your electronic prescriptions remotely. Choosing this provides further options for patients to order prescriptions from their chosen pharmacy and arrange for either pickup or delivery. Various apps and services are listed including MedView Patient Connect .
For more information on how this new button works, watch this short video.
Which of your patients would benefit from a My Script List?
The free My Script List (MySL) service provides a consolidated digital list of a patient’s current prescriptions, and removes the need to receive and manage separate tokens for each prescription and repeat.
In many ways, MySL is like an electronic version of the traditional Scripts on File service offered by pharmacies, making it significantly easier to help patients identify the correct ePrescription, removing concerns about patients losing prescriptions, or having to locate the right prescription or digital token.
You can setup a patient’s MySL with an easy once off registration process. Obtaining consent for your pharmacy to view and dispense from their MySL is simply via an SMS or email to the patient. See Dispense Prescriptions from a Patient's MySL for more details.
PRODA Action Plan for Community Pharmacies
PRODA (Provider Digital Access) is the online identity verification and authentication system pharmacies need to use to securely access certain pharmacy-related government online services, for example the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and MyHR. PRODA is managed by Services Australia.
Next year, you will also need to have PBS Online linked your PRODA account, in order to continue lodging PBS Online claims. To help you get ready for this change, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia have created a PRODA Action Plan infographic for community pharmacies. See PRODA, HPOS and AIR on the Guild's website.
Check on Service Performance Status
Our platforms are continuously monitored for outages and performance issues. Should there be any interruptions in service—for example to MedView Flow, we’ll provide status updates on the Service Performance Status page of our website.
This Month's PBS Changes
For the full Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits, go to the PBS website at http://www.pbs.gov.au/ where you can search the schedule by drug name.
For your convenience, we've also uploaded a printable summary of this month's important PBS changes to this site.
For Highly Specialised Drugs (HSD) items (CAR and non-CAR), please refer to the Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits as well as Services Australia to confirm whether the PBS item code for a HSD is eligible to be dispensed and claimed by your pharmacy type.
