What's New in Fred Dispense?

Script Image

This release of Fred Dispense includes a new eScript View that enables you to see a preview of an electronic script that you have pushed through to Fred Dispense from MedView Flow.

For compliance purposes, continue to refer to the script image in MedView Flow when dispensing.

Script View is available while dispensing new scripts. In a future release, you will also be able to see the Script View during edits of scripts.

To view more information about the script, press CTRL + Right Arrow. Each time you press CTRL + Right Arrow, the eScript View will cycle through three different views.

To turn off eScript View on a terminal

  1. Select Setup > eHealth Configuration > Electronic Prescribing Configuration.
  2. Clear the Display Script Information checkbox.

For more information, see eScript View

Schedule 8 scripts cannot be dispensed if older than 6 months

Schedule 8 scripts are valid for 6 months. Due to regulatory requirements, Fred Dispense will no longer allow S8 scripts older than 6 months to be dispensed. If you try to dispense an S8 script over 6 months old, you will see a message like the one below.

Adobe Flash Player Popup

If you see a popup asking if you want to uninstall Flash Player, click Remind Me Later.

Do NOT click Uninstall.

Adobe Flash Player is a component that is needed to view or print drug information using CMI. Adobe will be discontinuing support for Flash Player at the end of the year.

A newer version of CMI that is not reliant on Adobe Flash Player will be provided early next year.

This Month's PBS Changes

For the full Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits, go to the PBS website at http://www.pbs.gov.au/ where you can search the schedule by drug name.

For your convenience, we've also uploaded a printable summary of this month's important PBS changes to this site:

Please note that the Government provides this information under embargo to Fred IT Group to enable next month’s PBS changes to be incorporated into your drug file. We have provided this information in this newsletter to prepare you for the changes, maximising patient availability/access and enabling you to adjust your stock accordingly. A condition of the embargo and in the interests of the quality use of medicines is that the information must not be released to the public or otherwise distributed prior to 1 December 2020.

For Highly Specialised Drugs (HSD) items (CAR and non-CAR), please refer to the Schedule of Pharmaceutical Benefits as well as Services Australia to confirm whether the PBS item code for a HSD is eligible to be dispensed and claimed by your pharmacy type.
