Fluquadri Quantity listing in Fred Dispense
Pharmacists have reported issues with dispensing a single dose of Fluquadri, while it is listed in Fred Dispense as Pack Size 5 and 10.
At present, the manufacturer’s data included in Fred Dispense only describes bulk packs. This means this drug can only be ordered in bulk.
Fred has been in contact with the manufacturer of Fluquadri. At this stage, the manufacturer is not amending its Fluquadri data, and this must be reflected in Fred Dispense.
To dispense this drug as a single dose, amend the Quantity from 10 to 1 at the time of dispensing.
For customers using Fred Office, this work around will affect stock control, as it creates a broken pack.
If you select Fluquadri Pack Size 10 in the Drug Selection window, then change the dispensed Quantity to 1, Fred Office deducts 1/10 of the item from the stock on hand. The SOH figure now displays as 0.90.
Workaround – for Fred Office customers only
- In Fred Dispense, create an Own Brand drug with Pack QTY set to 1.
- Take note of the Own Brand code.
- In Fred Office, open the relevant Item card.
- In the Links tab, select Match and enter the Own Brand code you have just created.
- Click Save to save your changes.
- In the Inventory & Ordering tab, select Suppliers.
- Select each Supplier line and update the Pack Quantity for each Supplier to 10.
- Click OK, then Save and Close.
This will ensure that at the time of receiving, SOH is correctly updated.
Customers using other POS brands should contact their vendor and obtain advice on the appropriate workaround.
Discounting PBS scripts
From 1 January 2016, approved pharmacists may (but are not obliged to) discount the PBS patient co-payment by a maximum of $1.00 per PBS supply.
- The discount for co-payment general and concession prescriptions is capped to $1.00 for Section 90 pharmacies (Community and some Hospital pharmacies) and Section 92 Dispensing Doctors.
- For Section 94 Private Hospital Pharmacies, the discount amount is uncapped.
- Friendly Society Pharmacies may continue with existing arrangements for their members.
Fred Dispense functionality enables you to apply the desired discount to specific patient types while remaining compliant with the terms of the 6CPA.
Discounting rules can be applied and set by the pharmacy within the Co-payment discount rules screen. Rules are customisable using specific parameters. When dispensing, the script’s patient price is automatically calculated according to the discounting rules that have been set for scripts.
The discounted amount is displayed below the price on the Script Label preview.
PRF stickers will display the PRF contribution, which is reduced by the discount amount (exception being CTG scripts).
A new column Co-pay Discount column has been added to Script Analysis report.
PBS Online claim transmissions now include:
- Actual amount paid by the patient as calculated and printed on the Fred Dispense label.
- Any discount amount applied to PBS or RPBS scripts.
For detailed explanations about the new discounting functionality, refer to the Fred Dispense January 2016 release notes on the Fred Help Centre.
Discounting Reference Guide
To assist you with setting automated discounting rules, the Discounting Reference Guide details how to create customisable
rules using specific parameters. It includes three short video tutorials.
You can access the Discounting Reference Guide from the Automated Co-Payment Discounting Rules screen.

Adding an own Brand Drug to Fred Dispense
The Own Brand Drug file is a limitless database where you can store and maintain a list of private items that you regularly dispense, but are not included or maintained in the Monthly Fred Dispense Drug Update.
Drugs that are set up in the Own Brand Drug file appear along with other drugs when searched. They are flagged as PRIVATE within the drug selection screen.
https://help.fredhealth.com.au/media/p/666.aspx
Own Brand items can only be dispensed as Private.
If you cannot locate an item in Fred Dispense, check the PBS website (http://pbs.gov.au/pbs/home) before adding it as an Own Brand entry.
