No Claim Serial Number on a Reg24 Script

You may notice that a claim serial number is not printed on the claim sticker for a Regulation 24 script. This is usually because the script is not claimable.

Cause

Only one dispensing fee is applied to Regulation 24 dispensings.

If the total price (wholesale cost of the full supply + mark-up (at the level applying to one pack) + one dispensing fee) is less than the minimum patient price (patient contribution x total supplies), the script is not claimable, and therefore no serial number is produced.

Example

The fees and markups shown are an example only.

A concession patient has a prescription for Noten 50mg X 30 with 5 repeats.

The pharmacist dispenses Noten 50MG Blister, which has a wholesale cost for one pack of $3.35.

Calculation:

Wholesale cost ($3.35 x 6) = $20.10

+ Mark-up Level (15%) = $ 3.02

+ 1 Dispense Fee ($5.99) = $ 5.99

Total price = $29.09

The total price ($29.09) is less than the patient contribution ($31.80); therefore, there is no Government recovery. The script is not claimable, so no serial number is issued.
