6CPA Dose Administration Aids

Fred Pak

Fred Pak now supports the requirements for lodging information to complete a claim under the 6CPA DAA program.

Overview

Beginning 1 February 2018, community pharmacies participating in the 6CPA DAA program are now required to lodge the following information to complete their claim:

  • Claim lodgement information to substantiate the claim for every eligible DAA patient for which the pharmacy is claiming.
  • Health outcome information to collect information to assist with the assessment of the effectiveness of the program.

Claim lodgement information must include the Patient Medicare/DVA Card Number and the Date(s) of provision of the DAA service. In Fred Pak, the “date of provision” is the Print from date.

This is the date the patient starts using the DAA to allow claiming for a weekly DAA service.

A weekly service is inclusive of changes during the week to a patient’s DAA pack/s and as such, claims for a weekly DAA service are not permitted to have DAA start dates less than 7 days apart. Fred Pak will allow you to print packs within 7 days to cater for edits and reprints but will only record a single date of provision.

For some patients, more than one week of DAAs may be packed for patient collection at one time. In this case, Fred Pak will record multiple dates of provision 7 days apart to cover the date range selected.

Example: A pharmacy packs DAA on Wednesdays for patients to start using the following Monday. They pack two weeks’ DAA for an eligible patient on Wednesday 7 February; the first pack has a start date of 12 February and the second pack has a start date of 19 February. The patient collects both packs on Saturday 10 February.
For the pharmacy to claim DAA services for two weeks, Fred Pak will record two different start dates for the DAA that are 7 days apart: 12 February and 19 February.
If an urgent change to the patient’s medicine regimen was made on 20 February and the second DAA was repacked for a start date on 20 February, an additional claim would not be made, as the next possible start date for claiming would be 26 February.

Flag a patient as participating in the 6CPA DAA program

On the Patient Details window ([F8]), the patient’s concession or repatriation number is now displayed, below the Medicare field, to help you determine whether the patient may be eligible for the 6CPA DDA program.

If the patient is eligible, enter Y in the new 6CPA DAA Patient field.

When you enter Y in the 6CPA DAA Patient field, the new Health Outcomes Patient field is displayed.

If the patient’s health outcome is to be recorded, enter Y.
