Dispense a script from a podiatrist

Patients must be informed that the medications prescribed by podiatrists with endorsement for scheduled medicines are not eligible for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) rebate and therefore may cost more to the patient than if prescribed by a medical practitioner.

Dispense a script from a podiatrist

  1. In Fred Dispense, start dispensing as usual.
  2. In the Prescriber field, enter the name of the Podiatrist, then press [Enter].
  3. In the Doctor Selection dialog, select <a> or <Add New Doctor>.

  4. In the Doctor Details dialog, enter P for the Prescriber Type.
  5. Continue adding the details for the podiatrist and Save.

The Prescriber No. is not mandatory.

  6. At the prompt Missing Prescriber Number, click <No> to dispense the script as Private.

Fred Dispense displays a blue message to indicate that the Script Type has been changed to Private.

  7. Move to the Drug field and select the relevant drug.

The Drug Selection dialog only displays private drugs.

  8. Finalise the dispensing.

You can also add a podiatrist on the Casual Doctor dialog—enter P for Prescriber Type.
