Set a Chemotherapy Compounder

When an authority script has been issued for an item that is not listed on the RPBS, you should dispense the script as a blank item. The process differs depending on whether your pharmacy has Fred Office.

Setting a pharmacy default compounder

In the Owner Details screen, the Pharmacy may select a preferred compounder. This compounder is used as a “default” for all Chemotherapy scripts.

This default can be changed at any time. It can also be overridden at script level when dispensing.

Press <CTRL + L> to display a list of compounders available for selection.

Adding an unlisted compounder

Each month, the compounder list in Fred Dispense is reviewed and amended. If a compounder listing is not available from DHHS in time for the monthly Fred Dispense update, then it will be provided the following month. In the meantime, a compounder can be added to Fred Dispense to allow chemotherapy scripts to be dispensed.

Any compounder added as unlisted will be removed when the next Fred Dispense update is run.

  1. On the Chemotherapy Dispensing Quantities screen, place your cursor in the compounder field.

  2. Press <CTRL + L> to display a list of compounders available for selection.

  3. In the Compounder Selection screen, select <Add Unlisted Compounder>.

  4. In the Add New Unlisted Compounder popup, enter the 6 digit alphanumeric code for the unlisted compounder and OK.

  5. On the Compounder Selection screen, select the unlisted compounder.

The unlisted compounder is displayed in the Chemotherapy Dispensing Quantities screen and can now be used to dispense the chemotherapy script.
