PBS Patient Discounts

Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) | For Pharmacists

In Fred Dispense, the IDR (Increased Discount Range) is displayed through an indicator in the F7 screen and main dispense screen to advise that the currently selected item's commonwealth price falls in the IDR range $30.00-$45.60 and is eligible for discounting.

Example 1

When you hover over the blue triangle indicator, you will see the IDR price range and the calculated government price for a single supply.

As this item is IDR, you can now discount the item.

Manually change the item price to $25 and you will see Manual Discount of $5 displays.

Example 2

If there is automatic discounting in place already like the following example, Automatic Discount of $1 displays. This is also known as the “allowable discount”.

As there is a IDR indicator you can continue to discount the price even further. For example, if you change the price to 25, the automatic discount is now altered to a “manual discount”.

The wait screen also reflects the manual discount.

If an IDR script is discounted, the script will no longer be in the General Claim category. It will now be Under co pay and there will be nothing to claim to the government.
