Check for HI Service

The Healthcare Identifiers Service (HI Service) is a national system that uses unique numbers to identify individuals, organisations and healthcare providers. The HI Service is a requirement for ePrescribing as well as MyHR.

To check whether HI Service is installed

  1. Select Setup > Owner Details.

    The Owner Details popup displays.

  2. If a number is displayed in the the HPI-OClosed Healthcare Provider Identifier-Organisation A unique identifier issued by Medicare Australia to every healthcare provider organisation in Australia. field, then the HI Service is installed at your site.

It is recommended that you click Validate to ensure that your HPI-O is active and linked correctly. If an error message displays, contact Support.

If you already use My Health Record (MyHR)

On the Main Dispense screen, if the My Health Record icon on the Fred Dispense toolbar is green, it is an indication that the patient has a valid IHI and an advertised My Health Record. By extension, this means that the HI service is installed and working as expected.
